Privacy & data notice
Plain terms: what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to get it removed.
Last updated 14 August 2026
What we collect
Email newsletter: your address, the exact consent wording and version you agreed to, the date and time, the page you signed up from, and any interests you selected.
Business submissions and claims: the contact and business details you enter, plus any evidence you attach so an editor can verify authority.
Reports: the content reported, your reason and evidence. Reports are anonymous by default — an address is only stored if you choose to give one.
Analytics: consent-aware, aggregate interaction counts. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell data.
What stays on your device
Saved listings, your trip plan and any in-progress submission draft are stored in this browser only. Clearing site data removes them, and we cannot recover them for you.
Consent and marketing
Marketing consent is never preselected. Newsletter signups use a confirmation step, so nothing is sent until you open the confirmation link.
Every campaign identifies Mayaro.org as the sender and carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops promotional email but not essential messages about a case you opened.
Retention and deletion
Newsletter records are kept while you remain subscribed and, if you unsubscribe, as a minimal suppression record so we can honour your choice.
Submission and moderation records are retained for editorial accountability, then reviewed and removed when they are no longer needed.
To access, correct or delete your data, email hello@mayaro.org and we will respond within 30 days.
Limits
Mayaro.org is an independent guide, not a government agency and not an emergency service. Contacting a business through a link on this site means dealing with that business directly under their terms.
